next posts ... first one here actually

-------------------
the reason i did this is to find out if i can add 'next page' or 'next posts' (and previous ones in appropriate places of course) to my template easily ... but it seems too outdated for an easy tweak into what is kinda standard with the later models. And all the upset of delicate placement askewities that i have spent a little time looking at, from last februari, are making me give up.

I i ever return to the problem .. perhaps this (blogger help forum) list will help.

What is auto pagination?

there is a helpful fella (though i hate visibility at his blog, i use select all to block the background there) who wrote (first of 19 comments):
http://blogging.nitecruzr.net/2010/03/auto-pagination-is-not-optional.html
from march (when the storm was nearly over and nitecruzr getting irritated with storms of impatience, ineptitude fueled attitude etcetera:
:::
"The term "pagination" literally refers to page numbering.  The controversial "Auto Pagination" feature refers to a server stabilisation process, which decreases peak load on the servers by limiting the amount of blog content that is served in one blog page (archive retrieval, label retrieval, or main page).  AP segments large display pages, and requires the readers to use "Older Posts" / "Newer Posts" links, to view multiple segments of one logical page.  No content is lost, and the viewers simply make one click to traverse segment to segment"
-----
this is in fact a subject i have scolded bloggers on frequently... they learn how to blog and blog away but never navigate as if another come to visit them at THEIR own and wanted speeds. Archiving hygene is a must.

did you notice my little trick to make quoted text more readable after a big flatten to save paper yet print yet save paper?

a  blog with 50.000 followers has this:
http://buzz.blogger.com/2010/02/auto-pagination-on-blogger.html
last month was really busy there with 6 posts (!?!)

i will prolly just wait till i come across a template just like mine (kinda rare really) by a fella who tweaked his and copy his lead.

I think you might have included this discussion of the effect of auto pagination on blog archives and consequently on google searches and on some blogs that use those archives to link to older posts:

i'm just curious how many thank you notes proving your premise: "we have consistently found that faster page loads mean more satisfied users," when compared to those of us who are, well, not saying thank you.

because if you haven't received a HUGE sigh of relief, it was a faulty premise.

Here are some things it would be helpful to know about AP:

Do sidebar widgets count against the quota? I have been assuming that they do.

How big are the widgets? How much of the quota do they consume?

Does a slideshow widget load all of the photos in the slideshow into memory during page load, and does that count?

If we have a feed widget, does the whole feed get loaded into memory or just what is shown in the feed?

For posts, if we upload a photo as "large" but then resize it to be small, does it consume more or the same of the quota compared to uploading the same photo as small?

These are the kinds of things that ideally a user would not need to know. Unfortunately I feel I do need to understand them better in order to make rational choices about how to optimize my blog under the cap.

My suspicions is that everything on the page is counted. widgets, text images, you name it.

Please keep this thread for information about AP questions/threads.
I suggest starting a thread related to how AP is calculated. If you post a link here it will be included in the next update.

It might be helpful to move the questions you posed above to that thread and/or the one it links to.
